The British Museum recently admitted that it had lost its marbles over the return of some stones to Greece that were originally picked up lying around at the Parthenon by Lord Elgin in 1801.
The marbles were given as a gift to his son as playing marbles was the latest craze at Eton at the time and no-one had a set of Greek marbles.
The stones are now known as the Elgin Marbles and are supposed to be over 2500 years old. The Greeks blame the Ottoman Turks for allowing the marbles to be removed from Greece and want them back. Along with Northern Cyprus.
There were rumours that the British Museum was prepared to swap the Greek marbles for a set of Double Figured Fish Sulfide Marbles but after the museum lost their marbles this deal fell through.
EU spokesperson Ursula Von Richthofen commented:
The EU would also like the marbles back so we can sell them to help pay down the debt Greece owes Germany for the money loaned to Greece to bail-out German and French banks saddled with worthless Greek debt. Vorsprung Durch Teknik!
