ChatGPT, the online chatbot from OpenAI, is to be investigated for potentially violating privacy regulations.

Cage fighter Mark Zuckerberg is among those claiming privacy concerns, along with a couple of comedians.

Apparently the AI has been fed with mountains of information to tune its models but did not ask permission of all the information owners before consuming this data or check that all the data it used was in fact 'kosher'.

FNN asked ChatGPT for comment and it told us:

ChatGPT privacy investigation highlights the challenges of developing AI models that balance user privacy, ethical considerations, and the need for accurate and unbiased responses. OpenAI's response to the investigation demonstrates their commitment to addressing these concerns and improving the system's performance.

Another problem is that the ChatGPT API often gives different answers to the same prompt depending on the model used, the time of day and the role selected by the prompting user.

So who knows what it is up to?
