When you hear the word 'oligarchy' what comes to mind? Russia, Ukraine?

But according to Rip Van Biden, who seems to have just woken up at the end of his presidency, this is the future of the USA.

In his farewell address to the nation, sleepy Joe articulated what everyone else has known for some time: the USA is an oligarchy ruled by elites and beholden to the power of money.

Let's be honest: It doesn't have that multi-trillion dollar debt for nothing.

Whether the oligarchs are the MIC, big pharma, wallstreet wolves, silicon valley billionaires, whatever, it's hard to think of a country where elites and money rule and are viewed quite so benevolently as in the USA.

However, unlike Putin's Russia where early on in his 'rule', Russian oligarchs were read the riot act in a famous round-table meeting and forced to work with the state - or else - in the USA no such meeting has ever been held or is ever likely to be held. It's a democracy right?

Granted, many Russian oligarchs accumulated their fortunes by embezzling state assets after the collapse of the Soviet Union, whereas many in the USA got their wealth from the stock market, federal lobbying and tax breaks. But still.

Instead there is the unedifying spectacle of tech-oligarchs like Mark Zuckerberg visiting Mar-A-Lago to suck-up to President-elect Trump by reversing years of woke and misinformation nonsense embedded in what are now considered to be 'outdated' DEI and other policies.

As Biden alludes to in his address: Everyone has the right to follow the American dream. To become an oligarch themselves that is.
