Northumberland County Council in the UK is considering paying reparations to the decendants of Anglo-Saxons who suffered from the depredations of William the Conqueror's infamous 'Harrying of the North'.
A spokesperson for the Council told FNN:
Anger against the Normans remains high here in the North and we believe that reparations will end this discontent once and for all.
Anyone who can prove an ancestry back to the Anglo-Saxons, i.e. a mention in the Domesday Book, will be eligible for £78.50 in reparations.
This will be paid for by putting £234 on everyone's annual council tax.
It means that each family in receipt of the reparation grant can afford a slap-up fish and chip dinner for 2.
The State of California is watching events in Northumberland closely as it is considering paying proven decendants of slavery over $1 million each.
