A new OFCOM report suggests a solution to the quest for the UK's Post Office to cut costs and make more money:

Stop delivering mail!

The report suggests that if the Post Office were to stop delivering mail altogether then its delivery costs would fall dramatically. People could still buy stamps, it's just that other third-party services would be used to deliver the mail.

The Post Office would no longer need delivery vans, sorting offices, weighing and franking machines and the infamous 'bag room' - among a host of other savings.

Former Australian postie Bill "The Bagger" Heslop told FNN:

This is genius! I can't believe the Poms came up with this.

Here in Australia we tried to stop doing deliveries for years but the Government insisted that we keep delivering the mail and emptying those stupid post boxes dotted all over the place. Dickheads!

Hey Muriel! Fetch me a tinnie, I'm parched.
