As President Trump continues to yo-yo over Ukraine, mega MAGAS like 'firebrand' Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) are starting to push back.
The UK's Daily Telegraph reports MTG lamenting Trump's promise of more weapons for Ukraine:
It’s not just Ukraine – it’s all foreign wars in general and a lot of foreign aid,” she told The New York Times. “This is what we campaigned on. This is what I promised also to my district. This is what everybody voted for, and I believe we have to maintain the course.
Then up popped another mega MAGA:
Steve Bannon, a former Trump adviser and host of the War Room podcast, condemned the announcement, claiming that Mr Zelensky’s “number one priority” was luring Mr Trump deeper into the conflict.
“We’re about to arm people we have literally no control over,” he said. “This is not [the] global war on terror. This is old-fashioned, grinding war in the bloodlands of Europe – and we’re being dragged into it.”
Despite being universally despised by the media, for whom apparently the feeling is mutual, MTG simply talks common sense according to the Telegraph report:
"I said it on every rally stage: ‘No more money to Ukraine. We want peace.’ We just want peace for those people,” Ms Greene told The New York Times, highlighting the extent to which this message resonated on the campaign trail. “And guess what? People haven’t changed.”
Addressing the concerns of people in her district, Ms Taylor Greene said the Ukraine deal risked perpetuating a sense of working class voters being overlooked by Washington elites.
“No one’s walking around thinking about Ukraine. No one’s walking around thinking about Russia. They’re just not,” she told the newspaper. “They walk around and all they think about is their bills, their problems and the road that may look like crap in front of their house – or they can’t buy a house.”
MTG for President!
