Retired troops aged 55 to 65 may be called to rejoin the military under new powers aimed at making it easier to mobilise tens of thousands of veterans.

That's the ticket. Make them earn their pensions!

At least they would spend the winter in nice, warm barrack blocks instead of shivering at home on their winter fuel payment.

Talk about scraping the barrel!
