Four people have been arrested after activists smothered apple crumble and custard over a glass case containing the Crown Jewels inside the Tower of London, this morning.
The campaigners, who have identified themselves as members of Take Back Power, then unfurled a sign saying: 'Democracy has crumbled - tax the rich'.
Take Back Power said it is a new, nonviolent civil-resistance group demanding the UK government establishes a 'permanent citizen's assembly - a House of the People, which has the power to tax extreme wealth and fix Britain.'
It would have been more festive if they had smothered the case with christmas pudding and brandy butter but apple crumble was probably cheaper.
'A House of the People' sounds like a good idea but hardly one the UK establishment is going to embrace with open arms. The last thing they want is people making decisions except via the official 'gatekeepers' i.e. MPs.
Look what happened the last time the voice of the people was heard: the UK exited the EU.
So people-power has become a real no-non.
A spokesperson for the former band Take That told FNN it was nothing to with them.
