It was interesting to watch an interview between Piers Morgan and Jeffrey Sachs in which the bombastic Piers was unnaturally quiet and respectful when faced with Sachs' analysis of the current situation in Ukraine.

Morgan eating humble pie. That's not something you see every day.

As Sachs - like many others - has pointed out, the war was initiated by the USA supporting the Maidan coup so it's really up to them, and not the EU, to finish it.

It's a war that's been a long time coming and expected for decades, as anyone who has read Scott Horton's blockbuster Provoked will know.

Morgan seemed particularly mortified to hear that Sachs suggested the 2022 Istanbul peace plan as the basis for any peace agreement.

This is the peace plan that was apparently torpedoed by Boris Johnson as the US errand-boy, which Morgan said Boris denied.

That may be but if so what exactly was his purpose in visiting Istanbul at precisely the time of these talks?

Was he on vacation buying Turkish Delight? Was he on a belly-dancing course? Was he visiting his favourite Turkish barber?

It seems highly likely that Boris was 'unleashed' by the USA to persuade Zelensky that he would be backed 'all the way' and to fight on, with no thought at all for piling up Ukrainian and Russian casualties.
