In an unexpected gesture, President Trump is rumoured to be considering putting a hold on imposing a new round of tariffs in order to support Amazon Prime Day, which is quickly surpassing Independence Day as the most important day in the US calendar.
A spokesperson explained:
Prime day is all about putting America first.
Countries that order billions of dollars of goods via Amazon to support Prime Day could be granted a special reduction in import tariffs.
The goods purchased must be made in the USA, paid for in US$ and cannot be returned.
Oh and all orders must be placed using the President's own Prime account and his Amazon Amercan Express Bonus Card.
Amazon is also likely to pay a percentage of the profits from this Prime Day bonanza to Trump's Presidential Library in the form of books from its vast outlet store.
