The British Museum has decided not to call Egyptian embalmed bodies 'mummies' and instead refer to them with the more dignified term, 'mummified bodies', which really rolls off the tongue.
The term 'mummy', in this context, derives from the Latin 'Mumia' and Arabic 'Mumiya' referring to an embalmed body or the mummification substance used. But apparently 'mummy' is not longer politically correct as it might imply 'of the female gender' to some deluded people.
In fact, the terms 'mummy' and 'daddy' are also on the way out since they clearly imply fixed gender roles of 'female' and 'male'.
A spokesperson for UK food manufacturer HP told FNN:
We are currently considering a name change for our popular 'Daddies Sauce' - launched in 1904 - as this name is clearly unacceptable today and could trigger mental health issues if our sauce is added to your bacon roll at Greggs.
Also, it is a little worrisome that 'Daddies Sauce' has become a popular term used on porn sites - or so my friends tell me - to refer to the male emission.
Suggestions for the new name include:
- Gender Indeterminate Sauce
- Self-Identifying Sauce
- Brown Bender Sauce
- Stonewall Sauce
- Ooh You Are Saucy!
