The Russian threat to the UK has become horrifying real - the Russian 'spy ship' Yantar is operating in the English channel!

According to The Daily Mail:

A Russian spy ship designed to 'gather intelligence' shone lasers at RAF pilots who flew overhead to surveil it as it arrived on the edge of British waters, the Defence Secretary has said.

Hours after a report claimed the UK lacks a plan to defend itself against foreign military attacks, John Healey said the research vessel Yantar had been spotted lurking north of Scotland.

The boat, operated by Russia's elusive deep-sea research unit GUGI, has been situated on the edge of the UK's waters for 'the last few weeks', Mr Healey said. It is suspected by the West to map vital undersea infrastructure such as internet cables.

This threat demands use of the same overwhelming naval force deployed to deter migrant boats crossing the channel i.e. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Strange how this threat appears 'hours after a report' that claims the UK has no plan to defend itself.

The timing of the Russian 'threat' is impeccable. A bit like the Skripals being poisoned just before the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Healey warned:

Make no mistake: we will not tolerate a threat to the British people's essential connections underwater.

They were all quite happy for the Nordstream pipelines to be blown up but when it comes to the Russians threatening to map Britain's underwater sewage pipes it's unacceptable.

If pointing lasers at pilots is an 'unprecedented escalation' then it just shows how vulnerable multi-million pound combat aircraft are to devices that are probably just $5 presentation pointers from Alibaba.com. Perhaps the pilots need new goggles?

The Kremlin must be pissing themselves.

They probably do this deliberately, not to map UK undersea cables or pipelines, but just to see what Nelsonian-nonsense the UK will come up with next.

It's like Saturday Night Live at the Kremlin. It's enough to make even Lavrov laugh.

The UK scrambles aircraft, destroyers and submarines all of which smell of mothballs.

But this a good thing. At least we know they still work.
