In relation to the Charlie Kirk murder, on Friday 12 September 2025 at 16:59 Sky News reported:

FBI director Kash Patel, who also spoke at the news conference, confirmed the suspect was taken into custody on Thursday at 10pm local time (5am UK time).

Yet on Friday 12 September 2025 at 06:46am UK time, Sky News reported:

FBI chief tight-lipped on Charlie Kirk case after incorrectly stating a suspect was in custody

The FBI director stated in a social media post that a suspect in the Charlie Kirk killing had been caught but no such event took place.

So is he in custody or isn't he?

Apparently, according to Sky News at 06:46 UK time, the event that took place at 05:00 UK time, did not take place.

Strangely the Sky News item that confirmed the suspect had been caught was not top of the page as you might expect but almost 'below the fold'.

One wonders why?
