Christopher Columbus, the explorer, is buried in Seville, Spain.

But now, following DNA testing of his remains, scientists have revealed that he did not come either from Spain or Genoa in Italy.

In fact he came from Govan and one of his direct descendants is none other than Rab C Nesbitt.

It had always been a mystery why the remains of a string vest had been found in his grave but now it all becomes clear.

Also, Columbus was known to have said that the idea that the earth was flat was 'messin' wi' ma heed'.

Columbus was very fond of a brew and as the discoverer of Kid Creole's coconuts in the Caribbean, he is thought to have been the orginator of the popular Scottish sweetie, the macaroon bar.
