Caitlin Johnstone reports on the mistreatment of Swedish activist Greta Thunberg following an interview with her by the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet:

This [her treatment] shows that if Israel, with the whole world watching, can treat a well-known, white person with a Swedish passport this way, just imagine what they do to Palestinians behind closed doors.”

Thunberg, once the climate change conscience of the world and feted as some kind of wunderkind at the UN, is now called a 'whore' (hora) and had humiliating selfies taken of her while she was imprisoned. No doubt these will soon turn up on the Internet.

Imagine the outrage if this happened in the UK or even the USA for that matter. Or God forbid if it happened anywhere to a trans person. 

There was global condemnation when it was discovered that US prisoners, mainly Muslim, were being mistreated at the Abu-Graib prison in Iraq.

But when the mistreatment is by Israel, it seems it must be forgiven because, after all, Thunberg is classed as a 'terrorist' by the Israelis.

FNN finds it very strange that Greta's treatment by Israel is not being widely condemned when not long ago everyone was so very happy to celebrate and support her climate change position.

The Swedish state itself - rather than going to bat for one of their own citizens - is clearly embarrassed by the whole affair and wishes it would go away, just in case anyone accuses them of 'anti-semitism'.

Shameful.
