According to Sky News:
British fish and chips could be under threat if Vladimir Putin's Russian government goes ahead with ripping up a longstanding agreement with the UK.
The Russian government is said to be ready to terminate a decades-old deal with the UK that allows British boats to fish in the Barents Sea - leading to an accusation that it is "weaponising food".
Famous British track star Alf Tupper, aka 'the tough of the track', told FNN:
Without me fish and chips, I'm f**ked. I'll never be able to run again.
But it's not all bad news!
The USA has already offered unlimited imports of its delicious and fish-like 'Filet-o-Fish' to make up for the loss of prime fresh cod and haddock from the Barents Sea.
The filet-o-fish is made from mechanically separated fish coated in batter that is pre-fried and shaped so it fits nicely into a bun.
A spokesperson for the UK's National Association of Fish Friers (NAFF) told FNN:
Threatening our chippies by weaponising fish is outrageous!
The last time this happened we fought the 'cod war' with Iceland. But that was when we had a navy.
That's why we've put a 50% tariff on all Russian whitefish imports so the great British consumer can foot the bill.
And btw ... the good thing about the American filets is that they can just be popped in the toaster and don't need to be fried. Bonus!
