Transport for London (TFL) has announced new naming for London's overground routes based on celebrating our national treasures.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan said:

This is a hugely exciting moment, transforming how we think about London's clapped out, uncoordinated and tram-free transport network.

The new names are as follows:

The Elton line: Euston to Watford Junction

The Jagger line: Stratford to Richmond/Clapham Junction

The Bruno line: Highbury & Islington to Clapham Junction/New Cross/Crystal Palace/West Croydon

The Windsor line: Liverpool Street to Cheshunt/Enfield Town/Chingford

The Pankhurst line: Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside

The Geoff Hurst line: Romford to Upminster

The names were selected after a vote conducted via vouchers served with every Greggs bacon roll and Starbucks 50% skinny vanilla lattes.

However the naming has not excited everyone.

The RMT union has announced a series of strikes because they are furious that they were not consulted in the naming process.

A spokesperson told FNN:

If this dispute cannot be resolved then RMT is more than prepared for a sustained period of industrial action to get London Overground workers the naming conventions they deserve.
